Manual Handling Induction
Manual handling training is an essential part of the core training for any person who moves other people or objects regularly within their work. The HSE state that handling injuries are the most common kind, accounting for 1/3 of all work place injuries. In 2011-12 alone there were 30,663 handling injuries to employees, of which over 90% resulted in over 3 days leave. In 2011-12 an estimated 1.2 million working days were lost due to handling injuries.
This course provides delegates with an understanding of the relevant health and safety legislation and its implications, whilst developing delegate’s ability to implement health and safety and manual handling policies. Delegates will be taught how to use safer moving and handling techniques and identify priority areas using ergonomic principles. Delegates will be shown how to use a broad range of handling aids and equipment in order to understand the rationale for their application.
At the end of the course delegates should know how to carry out manual handling tasks safely, avoiding injury to themselves and others.
